Rolling shutters are used to protect, secure, and cover openings for many types of applications. The shutters have an upper housing that stores the operator, reel, and slats. The shutter is operated by using one of the following: straps, cranks, or motors. The operator turns a pipe which we call a reel. The slats are rolled around the reel and stored inside the upper housing. The slats are guided out of the upper housing into side tracks.

Rolling shutters are designed in two shutter systems:

SYSTEM I :

System I shutters are designed for heavy-duty applications. The System I shutter has four types of slats and a choice of three housing shapes. These shutters can be used for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

SYSTEM II :

System II shutters are designed for medium-duty applications. The System II shutter uses curved type slats to allow for smaller housing where limited head room is a factor. The System II shutter has three types of slats and a choice of two housing shapes. These shutters are used for residential applications.

SYSTEM I :

Shutter Housing : white, ivory, or bronze standard colors with ESP finish

  1. Prefabricated box that houses the operator, reel, and slats.
  2. Housing consists of roll formed aluminum 3005H26 alloy .036" thick.
  3. Two - piece housing cover, interlocking S-lock, designed to be removable.
  4. Housing supported on ends with heavy duty die cast aluminum side frames.
  5. Housing and side frames available in two shapes : 5-sided or 6-sided.
  6. Housing and side frames available in two sizes : 10" or 12".
  7. Housing shape determined by unit location or customer choice.
  8. Size of housing determined by the opening height.

Reels :

  1. 60mm Octagon Aluminum.
  2. 60mm Round aluminum 6063 - T6 alloy .075" to .175" thick.
  3. 3.75" Round aluminum double wall 6063 - T6 alloy. ( FOR WIDE SHUTTERS OVER 150" )

Operators :

  1. Gear and crank.
  2. Gear with assist spring and crank.
  3. Electric motor.
  4. Electric motor and manual override.
  5. Gear : Stainless steel worm drive with die cast aluminum housing permanently lubricated.
  6. Crank : Aluminum handle with stainless steel universal joint.
  7. Assist Spring : Spring inside reel that assists crank to lift slats over 50 lb.
  8. Motor : 110 V - 60 Hz, UL recognized, C.S.A. certified, thermally protected gear motor.
  9. Manual Override : Optional safety device that allows operation of motorized units in the event of power failure, required on bedrooms for fire egress (momentary switches only).

Tracks : white, ivory, or bronze standard colors with ESP finish

  1. Provide structural support for slats and work as guide rails for slat alignment.
  2. Poly weather - stripping lines both sides to reduce wear on the slats.
  3. Extruded aluminum 6063 - T6 alloy.
  4. Size : 3" wide x 1" thick.
  5. Closed design with hole plug that conceals mounting screws.

Slats :

  1. P55
  2. AF200
  3. US60

SYSTEM II:

  2. 60mm round aluminum 6063-T6 alloy .075" to .175" thick.

Operators :

  1. Pull strap.
  2. Crank with strap coiler.
  3. Gear and crank.
  4. Electric motor.
  5. Electric motor and manual override.
  6. Pull strap : polypropylene nylon strap 14mm wide and 1.2mm thick; flat cord.
  7. Crank with strap coiler : 3 to 1 ratio, 50 lb. lifting capacity.
  8. Gear : Stainless steel worm drive with die cast aluminum housing permanently lubricated.
  9. Crank : Aluminum handle with stainless steel universal joint.
  10. Motor : 110 V - 60 Hz, UL recognized, C.S.A. certified, thermally protected gear motor.
  11. Manual Override : Optional safety device that allows operation of motorized units in the event of power failure, required on bedrooms for fire egress (momentary switches only)..

PVC SLATS:

Consist of UV stabilized polyvinyl chloride compound and was chosen over imported PVC because of its excellent performance in strength and color retention. The PVC slats are extruded in our plant to the design specifications. The PVC is available in white, ivory, beige, or gray.

PVC SLAT TYPES AND HEIGHT LIMITATIONS:

P55 : Double wall curved slat, 2.16" height. Reinforcement consists of 6005 - T5 extruded aluminum alloy ( I ) beam that is inserted into hollow section (calculated per application). Nominal wall thickness of .044". Size limitation of 180" wide x 156" high, dependent on operator lifting capacities.

  • 8" housing 4-sided or 5-sided = 61" track height, System II.
  • 9" housing 5-sided only = 81" track height, System II.
  • 10" housing 4-sided only = 108" track height, System II.
  • 10" housing 5-sided or 6-sided = 108" track height, System II.
  • 12" housing 5-sided or 6-sided = 162" track height, System I.

ALUMINUM SLATS:

Consist of two types:

  1. Aluminum roll formed sheet metal slats 3005H26 aluminum alloy.
  2. Extruded aluminum slats 6063 - T6 aluminum alloy.

The aluminum slats are available in white, ivory; or Bronze colors with ESP finish.

AF150 : Aluminum roll formed, curved slats that have a polyurethane core that prevents the double walls from collapsing. 1.71" height with nominal wall thickness of .018". Size limitation of 138" wide x 132" high, dependent on operator lifting capacities.

  • 6" housing 4-sided only = 48" track height, Mini System .
  • 7" housing 4-sided or 5-sided = 72" track height, Mini System.
  • 8" housing 4-sided or 5-sided = 108" track height, Mini System.
  • 9" housing 4-sided or 5-sided = 132" track height, Mini System.
  • 10" housing 4-sided only = 132" track height, Mini System.

AF200 : Aluminum roll formed, curved slats that have a polyurethane core that prevents the double walls from collapsing. 2.0" height with nominal wall thickness of .018". Size limitation of 180" wide x132" high dependent on operator lifting capacities.

  • 8" housing 4-sided or 5-sided = 70" track height, System Two.
  • 9" housing 5-sided only = 98" track height, System Two.
  • 10" housing 4-sided only = 124" track height, System Two.
  • 10" housing 5-sided or 6-sided = 124" track height, System One.
  • 12" housing 5-sided or 6-sided = 175" track height, System One.

US 60 : Extruded aluminum, double walls, curved slats, 2.16" height with nominal wall thickness of .050".Size limitation of 210" wide x 138" high dependent on operator lifting capacities. This slat has been tested and passes the Dade county impact specifications standards. The Dade County product approval number is # 02-0417.02.

  • 10" housing 5-sided or 6-sided = 118" track height, System One.
  • 12" housing 5-sided or 6-sided = 175" track height, System One.

Note : All housings listed above are our standard housings and sizes. Custom sized housings are available. Consult factory for sizes and limitations.

STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS:

Purlins ( Storm Bars ) : white, ivory, or Bronze standard colors with ESP finish

Extruded aluminum 6063 - T6 alloy. Hollow vertical support bars that support slats. Available with internal aluminum ( I ) beam that fits inside the hollow section of the bars (calculated per application). Two strips of weather-stripping that protect the slats from damage when the slats are put under a load. Installed in pairs one on inside of the shutter slats and one on outside of shutter slats. The bars sandwich the slats between them to provide for structural support during high wind loads.

Types :

  1. 1" wide x 2.3" deep (standard)
  2. 1.375" wide x 3.0" deep (heavy duty)
  3. 1.5" wide x 4.0" deep (super heavy duty)

Headers : white, ivory, or bronze standard colors with ESP finish

Extruded aluminum 6063 - T6 alloy. Hollow horizontal tube that attaches to rolling shutter die cast aluminum side frames and the wall. The header provides a structural attachment point for the top of the purlins (storm bars).

Types :

  1. 3.5" wide x 1.50" high (standard)
  2. 5.875" wide x 1.50" high (heavy duty)
  3. 7.25" wide x 1.5" high (super heavy duty)

Posts / Build - outs : white, ivory, or bronze standard colors with ESP finish

Extruded aluminum 6063 - T6 alloy. Hollow horizontal tube. Structural support post that allows for field conditions when the installation requires build-out. The posts can be drilled and attached to walls or can be designed to be free standing by using post base plates. Sizes, shapes and attachment are determined per application.

  5. 2.0" x 3.0"
  6. 2.0" x 4.0"

ADDITIONAL EXTRUSIONS:

Angles : white, ivory, or bronze standard color with ESP finish

The angles consist of extruded aluminum 6063 - T6 alloy . The angles are used as a support on top of the housing, side frames. or provides a stop on the bottom of shutter. Sizes, shapes and attachment are determined per application.

  3. .125" thick 1.0" x 2.0"
  4. .125" thick 1.0" x 3.0"
